hittin' the pavement, beating the clock

Still improving on my times.

Today's race (NYRR Scotland Run 10K) was dreadful. Six hours of sleep after a day of sitting down in front of a computer retouching in the dark. Biking to the start. Not stretching. Dreadful. I couldn't seem to keep anybody beat during the race. Started fine. Kept a good pace. Yeah, for the first three miles. Then nearly immediately I just kept hanging back and settling. I watched as my splits declined. I tried to keep my mind off the fact that I had to get to work immediately after finishing the race. Nothing could get me to speed up. Thighs burning and vision blurring, I crossed the finish line thinking I must have done better in the past. Only a couple minutes to think though. My bike was chained up on a pole just a block and a half from the finish line. I grabbed my bag. Hobbled a block and a half. Got to pedaling.

When I got to the studio, there was no time to think about running, but I thought it would not set me too far back to check my times.

...turns out I ran my best 10k.

Now that I got the road runs out of my system, I have this week to worry about 70 images for retouching.

Ready.....
GO!

impulse run last night

Went out for a run last night as a wind down after Sunday's race. I figured I'd go easy since biking is still killing my thighs. Said I'd go out easy. Ended up gunning it.
